I'm Back...

Ok, so a little time has passed since my last blog...who am I kidding a lot of time has passed.  It's been so long I feel the need to explain.  LIFE!!  Yea life, my baby girl is married and I am trying to find my new normal.

Brittani and Mikey lived with us about 2 months.  I was really unsure of it in the begining, but what a blessing it turned out to be.  You see I got to witness first hand the birth of a new family (Brittani and Mikey Copenhaver).  What a blessing to see your legacy unfold in your children who are walking in Gods will.  God is so good!!  We tried very hard to stay out of site and respect thier privacy (kinda hard as my house is only 1800 square feet) But it all work out ok.  When they did move into thier very first home together the transition was a little easier for me. I had a chance to get used to the idea of her being married and that she and Mikey would be moving out.  Dont laugh cause God knew exactly what I needed to be ok.   I know God has great things in store for them.
Oh, did I mention I have the best son-in-law in the world!!! I always wanted a son and God saw fit to give me the best.  Thank you God.

Getting the marriage license!!!

Ok we are almost there! Today Brittani and Michael are getting the Marriage license. And fussing at me about taking pictures! The nerve of them, someday they will be happy I did it. I can't believe we are only 13 days away from the big day. I did tag along so I could get some pictures (the scrapbooker in me) the kids did put up a bit of a fuss but in the end I got what I wanted...memories.

This week has been the hardest for me so far.  I just cant help it, I have so many emotions going through me some of which don't make any sense.  How can I feel so happy and so sad all at once?  Its as if I cant really figure out who I am or where I will fit into Britts new life.  I am so over joyed with the man that God has placed in Brittani's life.  I am just trying to figure out my new role.

The Garter

Britt finally picked out a garter...wow there are so many to pick from.  One to fit every taste.  She is not a frilly kind of girl, she likes things simple.  I love that about her.  Any way, she is such a beautiful girl she doesn't require too many accessories.  I did however add a little touch to the garter...I took one of the earrings I wore at my wedding to her Daddy Jack and placed it in the center of the bow.  There you go baby girl "something old".  Oh yea, since I have two ears I have one earring left for Crystal's garter...someday.

Bouquet Charms

We are down to 18 days before the wedding....let me just say I'm starting to feel the pressure.  I'm going to make bouquet charms for each of the bridesmaids.  The charms will have the girls initials with a personal message on the back from Brittani.  I purchased a custom collage sheet from http://www.etsy.com/  (one of my favorite places to shop). I then added a little "bling" what girl doesn't like "bling"?  Finally they will be soldered using silver gleem and it will tied to the bouquet.  It can then be worn later as an initial pendant.

I was so excited to find these in Brittani's colors. I'll post a pic once I have completed them.

The Old Red Museum

The wedding and reception will be a the OLD  RED MUSEUM in Dallas, TX.  For those of you familiar with the Museum, it was the old Dallas courthouse many moons ago.  The building itself is very beautiful, the architecture is breathtaking.  We decided to keep the decorations very simple as to not take away from the buildings beauty.

I'm going to try my hand at etching some vases. Thought it would be a nice keepsake for the Bridesmaids, and it will also serve as part of the reception decor.  I bought cylinder glass vases from a local dollar store.  Using my cricut cartridge "Storybook" I will etch the girls initials.  The vases will be used to hold the bridesmaids bouquet and decorate the fire place mantel in the reception room.  I will post pictures when I'm done.  I'm getting so excited.

Well, this was the best picture I could take.  It makes me a little sad, because it really does look nice.  I guess you will just have to wait until we have pictures from the wedding (taken by a professional). I also think once they are displayed with the bridesmaids bouquet you will be able to see the initials better.

Super Bowl Sunday

As everyone is getting ready to RUMBLE...I'm at work!!! I say that tongue in cheek, as I am so thankful to have a job.  Any way I'll be home in no time and back to the task at hand...the Wedding decor.  Oh yea, Lets go Cowboys, or who ever is playing.   I'm sorry to say I don't really follow the game, except from my craft room as my sweet husband watches/yells from the living room updates on the game.

I have completed the bobbles that will be part of the table decorations.  They turned out beautiful!!  All I did was printed some words such as Love, XOXO and Forever on white card stockThen I glued them to jumbo Gems that I picked up at a local craft store.  You can choose from clear or iridescent, I used the iridescent. The glue I used was liquid glass made by Close to my Heart.  I think any glue will work as long as it drys clear.  After they dried usually within 24 hours I simply cut them out.

I going to display them on the reception tables with a vase on top of a square mirror.  I haven't decided if I will use the "bling and pears".  Either way I'm hoping it will look simple but elegant.

Britt's Wedding Card Box...

Here it is!!! And to think all under $10.00 and 10 min.

Good Times

Had a good night with the family (missed you Crystal).  My brother-in-law Ferid is in town for the Super Bowl.  He treated us to some Persian food last night, in Dallas.  Yea I said Dallas, I cant believe we actually drove HWY 75 into Dallas on the icy roads but it was so worth it.  I love Mediterranean food! We made it home late last night safe and sound.

I'm up early today ready to get stuff crossed off on my to do list (wedding list).  First up, the card box.  I'll post pics after I  have finished it.

Baby it's cold outside...

And baby I mean it COLD outside.  Its hard to believe that just this past Sunday it was a beautiful 60 degrees outside, it seems like forever ago.  Don't you know only in Texas.

I am so glad the weather held until after Brittani's bridal portraits on Monday.  I cant wait to share the pic's with the world...but I will have to wait until after the wedding.  Let me just say she was absolutely stunning.  Her big sister Crystal did her hair a make-up.  Thanks sissy, you are so gifted and so giving.  It does a mothers heart  good to see the loving relationship they have.

The Count Down

Today is Feb 2, 2011.  It is 25 day before the big day "Brittani's Wedding"...what a ride this has been.  This past Sunday was her bridal shower.  We had 34 people crammed into my small home.  As usual I was a wreck to the bitter end.  Mostly because I wanted it to be perfect for my daughter.  It all did turn out just as I had hoped.

After the shower and after all was put away, I just sat and reflected on all that had transpired to the point.  Call me a slow learner but, it always amazes me just how good our God really is.  I have been blessed beyond my wildest imagination.  Both with wonderful children, and the most loving husband ever. God has and continues to meet my needs every day, in surrounding me with people that support me and show me unconditional love.  I'm so excited and pray that I slow down so that I may enjoy each day leading up to her wedding day.
